Join the DC Trans Ladies at The Bethesdan Hotel for our Holiday Soiree. Enjoy drinks at the bar, sit down for dinner, and socialize with friends, new and old. As always, we invite you to bring your significant other. So assemble your favorite winter-themed outfit such as a cocktail dress or gown and join us at our Soiree in bustling downtown Bethesda!

We will be hanging out at the bar, lounge, and restaurant areas starting at 6 pm and chilling ’til the bar closes around 11 pm. After that we have the option of heading to a local bar like Tommy Joe’s that makes sense to the post-11 pm adventurers (if you have ideas or a strong preference please let us know through messages or conversations).

Please consider overnighting at the hotel, and if you do, then be sure to book your reservation using our excellent group rate of $99 + tax (or alternatively exercise your AAA, AARP or Hilton Honors membership discounts). For those of you coming from out-of-town or just want to extend the weekend, the hotel has given us a discount for BOTH Friday and Saturday night!

At our signature soirees, we invite trans-women, their partners, and friends to socialize, network, and relax. We encourage new girls to come out to help boost their confidence and garner tips from those more experienced. And of course, we love having our regulars come out too!

Parking: Montgomery County now charges for Saturday parking. Park in the PAID CITY GARAGE LOT at 8216 Woodmont Ave. Use ParkMobile to pay or use a credit card
at the machine. Walk up the parking ramp to the main entrance. Walk straight through to where we are or turn right to check into hotel.
Alternatively, you can pay to park in the hotel garage, but it is small with low ceilings. Hotel parking costs a discounted rate of $15.00 Overnight and $10.00 Event Parking. Contact the front desk to make sure you get this discounted rate. Warning: large SUVs and trucks will *NOT* fit into the hotel garage. If you drive a large SUV or truck, then use the next door city garage.

Join the DC Trans Ladies for a Steel Soiree—Celebrating 11 years together @ Samuel Beckett’s Irish Gastro Pub, November 4

Join us for the DC Trans Ladies fall Soiree on November 4 from 6 – 11:30 p.m. celebrating our Meetup group’s 11-year anniversary! “Steel” is the theme for our 11th anniversary so don those tasteful metallic style outfits, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories for a night out together. Socialize with friends and savor Irish-themed food and drink while flaunting your flavor of metal—gold, silver, stainless steel, copper, bronze, etc. Dress to impress as always.

Sam Beckett’s management is excited to host us again. We’ve had 30 to 50 guests at our previous events here. Beckett’s has an intimate atmosphere, yet they can accommodate up to 70 of us!

Although the event states an end time of 11:30 p.m. this is not a hard limit since Beckett’s is usually open to as late as 1 a.m. Everyone is free to mingle and chat after 11:30 p.m. — and we definitely hope you do!

Significant others are welcome! Please be sure to include them as your +1 when you RSVP. Please RSVP soonest as we need to update the venue with our numbers one week prior to the event.

Attire
We want to reinforce the goodwill produced at our previous events, so we expect everyone to wear attire appropriate for a mainstream space. We take pride in the variety of ensembles ladies display while maintaining our tasteful and chic individual style. No fetish wear, please.

Parking
Shirlington has extensive, free, garage parking on weekends and evenings. Our preferred parking facility is the Quincy St. Garage at 2901 S Randolph St, Arlington, VA 22206. There’s a staircase to Randolph Street on the NW corner of the garage. This garage is just a two-minute walk to the pub and has ample parking on all levels.

Drop-off Location & Entrance
The entrance to Sam Beckett’s is located on Campbell Street across from the Peet’s Coffee even though the address is 2800 S Randolph St. If you are getting dropped off, please use 4150 Campbell Avenue for closer access to the front door.

Feeling nervous?
If you’d like someone to meet you at your car and walk in with you, that is no problem! Just text Beth at 202-803-3231, and she (or another member) will come out to walk you in and introduce you to the other ladies.

Lodging
The Hilton Garden Inn in Shirlington has rooms available starting at $150 + tax. We don’t have any special rate negotiated so check out your discount options online when you book, e.g., use hotel chain points, AAA membership discounts, etc. It’s just a two-minute walk from the hotel to the pub! Aubrey: Feminine and Fierce

“Hey, I’m Aubrey. I have been crossdressing and into feminine things ever since I was a kid. I’m lucky to still be with my highschool sweetheart, and she embraces everything I’m into. My makeover and photoshoot with Beth was amazing! She made me look so beautiful and made me realize a lot about myself, I can’t wait to do another one!”

Aubrey showed up to my studio with her own outfits picked out and ready to go. First, she chose a little, black dress with thigh-high, lace-top stockings that peeked out from under her skirt. For makeup, Aubrey showed me inspiration photos with intense red eye shadows and a red lip that would make her look fierce and unique. From my wardrobe, we added slouchy black boots and a Noriko Robin wig in chocolate swirl. For photos, Aubrey chose poses to make her look dominant and sexy.

For her next look, Aubrey went with a midriff-revealing, black blouse; skin-hugging, white jeans; and navy blue flip-flops. For this series of photos, Aubrey went for straight-up sexy.

Finally, Aubrey paired her green, floral, sharkbite, spaghetti-strap dress that hit mid-thigh with an off-white Ann Taylor sweater and nude, suede, wedge heels from my wardrobe. Her outfit and posing said “girl-next-door” while her makeup said “fierce.”

Kate, A Glam-Next-Door Girl

Kate and I had a great time getting her ready in her glamorous but casual style. She brought her wardrobe including dresses, sweaters, jeans, wigs, and sunglasses. For makeup, she knew she wanted a bold, black eyeliner look including on her waterline. We matched the color of her sequin dress to champagne, copper, rose, and brown eyeshadows from MAC. Kate loves light pink lipstick topped with shiny gloss. We waited to add the gloss until the indoor photos since wind combined with long hair can make a mess of gloss in no time.

Lucy Dresses for Success

Lucy sought out a professional business woman look, complete with a business suit, hose, and low pumps that she provided. She asked for natural looking makeup with light brown eyeshadows and a neutral, defined lip. We experimented with wigs, and she decided on the Cameron from Jon Renau for her professional look while enjoying a longer hairpiece for her glam outfits. After photos in the studio, we strolled through the neighborhood and down New Hampshire Avenue taking photos during the hour of magic and as the evening light faded.

Melanie asked for a natural makeup look with neutral, skin-tone eyeshadows and a soft, natural lip color. We used MAC eyeshadows in Brule, Arena, and Texture with a medium brown Kohl eyeliner in Costa Riche on her upper lid. For her lips, we used a MAC Powder Kiss lipstick in Sultriness over a clear lip primer, skipping lip liner in favor of a softer look.

Melanie chose three dresses and wigs from my wardrobe for her main photos. Her hair choices included the Cameron from Rene of Paris, the Jackson from Noriko, and the Robin from Noriko. She wanted a casual, mainstream look for her outing so we switched over to blue jeans, a black blouse, and a black leather jacket paired with black booties and the Cameron bob. We went for a casual walk in downtown Takoma Park, passing guests enjoying restaurant meals outdoors.

A Traditional Bride

A Traditional Bride

Kuhu came to me for bridal photos in a traditional Indian saree. Her fiancée joined her and helped Kuhu with draping her saree perfectly and coached her on poses she should do to show off the striking gown. For the eyeshadow, we used shades of gold to play off the gold accents in the saree.

We got lucky with mild weather and were able to shoot outdoors in the spring garden with the azaleas in full bloom. We started our makeover session early enough in the day to get images during the “hour of magic” shortly before sunset and as the sun faded away.

Nikki and I had so much fun at her four hour total makeover and photoshoot. She brought her own outfits and wig, and we listened to country music. She showed me inspiration photos for makeup on her iPhone and texted me the three best ones so that we could create just the look she was going for from my makeup kit. We took photos in my backyard and in my photo studio against an exposed brick wall.

Hi ladies! I know you all have been asking for another event so I’m excited to announce that the Bethesdan Hotel has reopened their restaurant and is eager to have us return for our signature Soiree! So assemble your favorite fall outfit (boots anyone?) and join us at our Fall Soiree in bustling downtown Bethesda, Maryland on Saturday, October 15! We will be having dinner at 7 p.m. and hanging out at the bar, lounge, and restaurant areas ’til the bar closes around 11 pm. The Bethesdan Hotel hosted the DC Trans Ladies at the Saint Patrick’s Day Soiree in 2019.

Meet Sabrina!

Meet Sabrina!

Sabrina and I had a great time at her makeover and photoshoot this weekend. She brought two outfits: a red, shoulder-baring blouse with shiny, black leggings and a black, crop top paired with a long, black skirt with leg-flaunting slits.

She selected deep, red eye shadows from the MAC Flameboyant Palette and a vivid, orange lipstick to pair with her red blouse. For hair, she started with her natural hair. Then she tried on several wigs before settling on an ombré-auburn, long, curly wig from Joi Wigs in Springfield, Virginia.

Sabrina is a dedicated athlete and a repeat client.
