Abygail says she loves dressing as a woman to “escape from reality and get into my own world. It’s like my alter ego fantasy thing.” That’s exactly what we did at her crossdresser bridal makeover and photoshoot.

Abygail started her day as a bride by trying on wedding gowns from my studio wardrobe. She selected a lacy, white gown with long sleeves and a short train, pairing it with a floor-length, sheer veil. From her jewelry bag, she drew out a triple strand, blue pearl necklace and a sparkling ring. “Blue is my favorite color. It reminds me of the ocean.” Blue also is a traditional color to include in a bridal look: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

A Generation X crossdresser, Abygail dresses as a bride on her wedding day. She has red lips and long lashes. She tilts her head down as she holds a wedding bouquet of red roses and baby's breath flowers at waist level. She wears a triple strand necklace of ocean blue pearls. She wears a white veil that cascades over her shoulders and a white, lacy bridal gown. She has auburn, wavy long hair. She stands in front of a light gray background. Bridal Makeup

Stepping out of the wedding gown, Abygail changed into a white, satin robe for the makeup application. She chose a bold, red lip that matched the red roses in her bouquet. To coordinate with the lips, I applied neutral, brown eyeshadow shades and added eye definition with eyeliner and long lashes.

With her makeup complete, Abygail slipped out of the satin robe and stepped back into the gown. I zipped her into it and fastened the blue pearls around her neck. Her crossdresser bridal makeover was complete! “[It] made me feel very beautiful,” she said.

Wedding Photography

For photos, Abygail draped her long veil over her shoulders so that it framed her figure. “I love veils and how it gives the full wedding look,” she said.

For one of my favorite shots, above, Abygail faced the white wall, usually the background, with red curtains behind her. The photography strobe backlit her, which resulted in intentional lens flare that created a dreamy haze on her face. The white, illuminated wall evenly lit her dress, showcasing the detail of the lace.

After her bridal photography session, Abygail changed out of her white dress and into a casual femme look, ready to fulfill her next dream.
