Risqué at the Crucible is my favorite and is held on the second Saturday of the month. QINK is another good option and is held once a month on a Friday night. Working closely with The Crucible, they host educational workshops, social munches, and play parties. Black Rose is known for its inclusive and educational approach to BDSM and welcomes people of all genders, orientations, and experience levels.
Dark Odyssey produces multi-day immersive events for adults exploring BDSM, kink, and alternative sexuality. Their events draw attendees from across the country and are known for a mix of workshops, social time, and play spaces in a safe and consent-focused environment.
Online BDSM and Kink Community
FetLife is the social network most widely used by the BDSM and kink community worldwide. It works similarly to other social media platforms but is built specifically for kink interests, with profiles, groups, events, and discussion forums. If you are curious about the community or looking to connect with others before attending an in-person event, FetLife is a good place to start. Fetlife is also how you will learn the themes of parties like Risqué and about munches.
BDSM-themed Parties and Events
Metro Underground hosts kink and BDSM-themed parties in the Washington, DC metro area. These parties are sometimes more about observing kink than participating so they can be quite approachable for first-timers to the kink scene. Check their website for current event schedules and details.
Dark Odyssey Winterfire is the annual winter flagship event from Dark Odyssey, typically held in the DC or Baltimore area and taking over an entire hotel. It runs over a long weekend in February and offers workshops, performances, and play spaces for adults of all experience levels.
