Kate and I had a great time getting her ready in her glamorous but casual style, which she calls “glam-next-door.” She combined club-ready pieces like sequin dresses with casual girl-next-door items like comfy, knit sweaters for her ensembles. Kate and I had a great time getting her ready in her glamorous but casual style, which she calls “glam-next-door.” She combined club-ready pieces like sequin dresses with casual girl-next-door items like comfy, knit sweaters for her ensembles. She combined a bold eye with dramatic eyeliner with a soft pink, glossy lip in keeping with the glam-next-door aesthetic.

Kate’s Glam-Next-Door Wardrobe

Kate brought her wardrobe including dresses, sweaters, jeans, wigs, and sunglasses.

For makeup, she knew she wanted a bold, black eyeliner look including on her waterline. We matched the color of her sequin dress to champagne, copper, rose, and brown eyeshadows from MAC. Kate loves light pink lipstick topped with shiny gloss. We waited to add the gloss until the indoor photos since wind combined with long hair can make a mess of gloss in no time.

For her first look, Kate combined a pink, sequin dress with an off-white sweater, sunglasses, and black tights. For outdoor photos, she sensibly chose black sneakers, which let us shoot on both paved and dirt sections of the garden. For indoor photos, she slipped on a pair of fashionable, black ankle boots with silver accents.

Next, Kate changed into blue jeans and a red, high-neck sweater with an open V-neck. The sweater lent a glamorous look to the outfit as did her gorgeous hairstyle. She made the look more casual in photos by holding her cell phone while sitting cross-legged and barefoot.
