Kaitlyn and I had a blast this spring over several days at my studio near Washington, DC. For one her fantasies, Kaitlyn asked for a bridal experience. However, she wasn’t really crazy about marrying anyone so we invented a fictitious, absentee bride, Aurora, for our day of role playing. I was the makeup artist, photographer, maid-of-honor, and bff. Super fun!
We started out getting Kaitlyn’s hair and makeup ready while she wore a comfy, pink spa robe. One can’t sit down easily in a wedding gown after all! Then Kaitlyn tried on three wedding dresses from my studio wardrobe until we decided on a dress, veil, and long gloves paired with a bouquet of red roses. We totally had to do the tradition of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” She borrowed my necklace and clip-on earrings that I wore for my 1996 high school homecoming formal–something old and borrowed, check. She wore a garter with a blue bow–blue, check. And we opened up a brand, new pair of white stockings for her big day–something new, check!
Here are some photos from our fun together. After pictures, we retreated upstairs for the juicy bachelorette party and gossip-dishing over sparkling wine and croissant sandwiches. I think we both agreed that we had a terrific day of celebrating Kaitlyn the bride!
