A Discreet, Private Setting
My studio is inside a private single-family home in a quiet, residential neighborhood. There is no storefront, no signage, and no public-facing reception area. You arrive as yourself and leave however you choose. I work with one client at a time, so you’ll never run into another client. Takoma Park is one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly cities in Maryland.
Driving & Parking in Takoma Park, Maryland
My studio is located near the I-495/I-95 interchange just north of Washington, DC, making it easy to reach from anywhere in the Washington-Baltimore Metro Area. Free, unlimited street parking is available on the same block, and I offer secure, indoor bicycle parking by prior arrangement.
Public Transit to my Maryland Studio
I am 2 miles from the Takoma Metro station on the Red Line and within 2 blocks of several bus stops. I’m also close to the Fort Totten and Hyattsville Crossing (formerly PG Plaza) Metro stations on the Green Line. Uber and Lyft are widely available throughout the DC metro area and are the easiest option if you’d rather not drive or navigate the bus system. Be sure to install your preferred app on your smartphone.
Arriving by Amtrak: New York, Philadelphia, and the Northeast Corridor
Washington, DC is one of the best-connected cities on the Amtrak Northeast Corridor, and train travel is often the most practical option for clients coming from New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and other Northeast cities. I regularly see clients who take the train down for a session and head back the same day or the next morning.
Amtrak’s Northeast Regional connects New York Penn Station to Washington Union Station in approximately three and a half hours. The Acela makes the same trip in closer to three hours. Philadelphia to DC runs about two hours, and Newark is roughly the same as New York. Trains run frequently throughout the day in both directions, so it is easy to plan an arrival that gives you a full session before catching an evening train home.
Once you arrive at Washington Union Station, getting to my Takoma Park studio is straightforward. Union Station is on the Metro Red Line — Takoma station is five stops away, and from there my studio is a short Uber or Lyft ride or a bus ride on the Blue 16 Silver Spring-Takoma route if you prefer. You can also take a rideshare directly from Union Station to my door. The whole trip from Union Station takes about 20 to 30 minutes depending on your timing (potentially longer during rush hour).
If you plan to spend the night, the Silver Spring hotels listed below are your best options for proximity to the studio and easy access back to Union Station by the Red Line Metro the next day.
Airports Serving Washington, DC
Washington, DC is served by three major airports, all approximately 45 minutes from my studio when traffic is light to moderate. I recommend using Google Maps combined with your Uber or Lyft app to find out the best directions for you along with timing and pricing. DC rush hour is significant—6 to 9:30 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday traffic can be heavy all day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is the closest and most convenient airport. It’s directly on the Metro Yellow line, making it easy to get to my studio via public transit. You can take the yellow line to Hyattsville Crossing followed by the P30 bus to East-West Highway and Kentland. A rideshare from DCA to my studio will cost less than from BWI or IAD since the distance is only 11 miles.
Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) offers more low-cost airline carrier options. The Amtrak and MARC Penn Line (a commuter train) trains runs from BWI to Union Station in downtown DC, where you can connect to Metro.
Dulles International Airport (IAD) handles most long-haul international flights. The Silver Line Metro now connects Dulles to the DC Metro system.
I also see clients regularly from Chicago and Atlanta, both of which have direct flights to DCA and BWI with short flight times of about two hours.
Hotels and Motels near my Maryland Makeover Studio
The closest hotels to my dressing service are located in Silver Spring and College Park, MD. The Hampton Inn and Marriott in College Park and the Courtyard Silver Spring are all 15-20 minutes from my studio and popular with clients. The major chains like the Hyatt, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Hilton, and more have hotels in downtown Silver Spring. Silver Spring has more of an urban vibe with College Park is more of a suburban college town.
For a motel option, Takoma Park offers the Quality Inn on New Hampshire Avenue that is quite convenient to my studio. It features small, basic motel rooms that open directly onto the parking lot. If you prefer hotel accommodations, consider staying in Silver Spring or College Park instead. Check out Google Maps or Orbitz for more lodging options.
If you prefer to avoid hotel lobbies entirely, private Airbnb rentals in Takoma Park, Silver Spring, and College Park are another option that some clients find more comfortable for arriving and departing en femme. There are even some within walking distance in Takoma Park!
If you’re visiting from out of state or internationally and planning a full-day immersion or multi-day Weekender experience, I recommend booking a hotel or Airbnb nearby for maximum convenience. Many clients book two or three nights and spread their sessions across consecutive days.
Former Studio Locations
My Alexandria and Baltimore locations consolidated at my Cabin John, MD location in September 2017. In June 2019, I moved from Cabin John to Takoma Park, MD when my wife, Giselle, and I became homeowners.
