A Thank You Note from Ann Murdoch

A Thank You Note from Ann Murdoch
Ann Murdoch is an advocate for transgender people

I met Ann Murdoch in 2013 when she came to me for a makeover. Since then, she’s been busy living as herself full-time and publicly advocating for transgender people. She spoke at the Equality Virginia Dinner 2018 and the Veteran’s Affairs LGBT Pride Month 2017 celebration. She’s been featured in the Out100 list and participated in the Veteran’s Day Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the DC LGBT Center. Somehow Ann still finds the time and energy to attend events I host (bottom right). Thank you, Ann, for giving back to the transgender community with your advocacy!

Hi Beth!

I thought you might want to use a short testimonial (below). I have been privileged and blessed to have been involved some really cool events, and it occurred to me that in every photo, I am wearing makeup I bought from you that you taught me how to apply.

I wanted to say thank you for all the help you have given me and so many others along the way.

Cheers,

Ann

Testimonial

In each of these photos, I am wearing Younique cosmetics I purchased from Beth Taylor. Beth not only represents a great brand of high quality products, but I learned how to properly apply them and look my best at her makeup parties. She is also an exceptionally talented makeup artist and photographer, who makes each of her clients feel special and pampered.

When I needed to look my absolute best for a speech for an audience of about 1,000 people, including the governor of Virginia (top photo, second column from left), I of course turned to Beth to make sure my makeup was flawless.

She is a great friend and ally of the transgender community, and I am a huge fan of hers.

Ann Murdoch

Kaitlyn Lives her Wedding Dress Dream

Kaitlyn Lives her Wedding Dress Dream

Kaitlyn and I had a blast this spring over several days at my studio near Washington, DC. For one her fantasies, Kaitlyn asked for a bridal experience. However, she wasn’t really crazy about marrying anyone so we invented a fictitious, absentee bride, Aurora, for our day of role playing. I was the makeup artist, photographer, maid-of-honor, and bff. Super fun!

We started out getting Kaitlyn’s hair and makeup ready while she wore a comfy, pink spa robe. One can’t sit down easily in a wedding gown after all! Then Kaitlyn tried on three wedding dresses from my studio wardrobe until we decided on a dress, veil, and long gloves paired with a bouquet of red roses. We totally had to do the tradition of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” She borrowed my necklace and clip-on earrings that I wore for my 1996 high school homecoming formal–something old and borrowed, check. She wore a garter with a blue bow–blue, check. And we opened up a brand, new pair of white stockings for her big day–something new, check!

Here are some photos from our fun together. After pictures, we retreated upstairs for the juicy bachelorette party and gossip-dishing over sparkling wine and croissant sandwiches. I think we both agreed that we had a terrific day of celebrating Kaitlyn the bride!

If you’ve been fantasizing about wearing a wedding dress and celebrating all things you, book your fantasy feminization session with me today!

Allison

Allison

Allison and I had a ball at this photoshoot. We originally planned on an outdoor steampunk-themed shoot on the lake, but the weather just didn’t cooperate. So we took some of our favorite props—a corset, bustle skirt, choker, and peacock feathers and made a day of it inside.

Vivian Davis, Vinyl, and the Beat Generation

Vivian Davis, Vinyl, and the Beat Generation

Vivian Davis loves the 1950s Beat Movement aesthetic, often characterized by berets, bongos, vinyl records, and books that challenged publishing norms of the time.

Vivian requested smokey eyes with strong eyeliner wings and a soft, pink nude lip. To keep the feel of the 1950s, we shot Vivian in black and white and pumped up the contrast in the resulting images. Vivian and her wife, Jes, rounded out the shoot cuddling together while listening to vinyl.

Do you have a hobby or special interest that you’d like to incorporate into your shoot? Bring props like Vivian did and make your photo shoot uniquely your own. Check out my makeover menu and book online here.

Vivian has killer eyes accentuated by Beat-inspired makeup.

Vivian and her bongos make for a fetching winter portrait.

The Beat generation often brings to mind bongos and berets. Vivian embraces both.

Vivian and Jes are a perfect match!

A Trans Love Story—Sneak Preview of “The Makeover”

A Trans Love Story—Sneak Preview of “The Makeover”
Beth and Giselle kiss

Beth and Giselle kiss at the Graffiti Warehouse in Baltimore.

Giselle and I would LOVE for you to join us for a cocktail party, film screening, discussion, and fundraiser for our filmmakers and dear friends, Jane Pittman and Sarah Park. Over the past three years, Jane and Sarah have documented how Giselle and I have evolved — “been transformed,” so to speak — and grown together. The result, entitled “The Makeover,” is all but complete and ready for the upcoming film festival circuit. After the screening, Jane, Sarah, Giselle, and I will talk about the making of the film. Of course, we will provide plenty of delicious wine and some finger foods since this is a cocktail party after all. 🙂

We’re very proud of the film, not just because it captures our experience but because we think our love may resonate with many across our community, including our families and friends. We look forward to sharing our story with you, and hope you’ll help Jane and Sarah put the finishing touches on a wonderful documentary.

• Film Synopsis

Beth and Tom head to dinner gala

Beth and Tom head to a dinner gala.

“The Makeover” is a distinctly traditional love story set in a decidedly non-traditional milieu of BDSM and shifting gender. Tom is an aging conservative policy wonk, in private known as Giselle. He meets Elizabeth Taylor, once a nuclear power instructor with the US Navy but now a photographer and make-up artist who sees hundreds of trans clients per year. Together this unlikely couple transform one another into what they most want to be.

• Donation Options

Jane and Sarah will be accepting cash donations, checks (perfect if you’d like a tax-deductible gift to charity), and GoFundMe for credit cards. They will use the funds to complete the film music scoring, final editing, and film marketing and distribution. Donate Anytime at GoFundMe

We love our lives! To being fabulous, everyone!
