Backyard BBQ & Band Birthday Bash with Beth & Giselle!

Summer celebration! Beth’s business turns 5… and Giselle’s turning 65! We’re hosting a Backyard BBQ & Band Birthday Bash at our home and studio the evening of Saturday, June 30.

  • Live Music by Delta 88 now featuring Giselle Donnelly as lead singer and guitarist on a cool stage. Denis will be on bass with Eric on drums.
  • Catering by The Smoking Swine of Baltimore with their food truck. Menu includes pulled pork, brisket, ribs, mac & cheese, cucumber salad, coleslaw, and baked beans!
  • Tent to provide shade and protection from rain
  • Beverages by Elizabeth Taylor of Makeovers with Elizabeth Taylor

Who: Friends, neighbors, clients, and coworkers of Beth and Giselle

When: Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 5 – 10 pm

Where: Beth’s makeover studio and home in Cabin John, MD. Address provided to those who RSVP. Park on the street. Parking is free and unlimited though streets are narrow. Please do not block driveways or fire hydrants.

RSVP: Please RSVP on Meetup or to me directly at Elizabeth.taylor.makeover@gmail.com if you’re not on Meetup. This is a catered event so we need a headcount to ensure plenty of food and drink for all. 🙂

What to bring: Bring your picnic blanket and beach chair, and prepare for a relaxing summer evening with friends. Event will be held rain or shine. We will have a tent available as a rain and shade shelter.

What to wear: Picnic clothes! Jean shorts, tank top, and sandals would fit right in. I advise against spiky heels as the ground is soft. We are inviting the neighbors, family, and Giselle’s coworkers so no fetish attire, please.

A Trans Love Story—Sneak Preview of “The Makeover”

Giselle and I would LOVE for you to join us for a cocktail party, film screening, discussion, and fundraiser for our filmmakers and dear friends, Jane Pittman and Sarah Park. Over the past three years, Jane and Sarah have documented how Giselle and I have evolved — “been transformed,” so to speak — and grown together. The result, entitled “The Makeover,” is all but complete and ready for the upcoming film festival circuit. After the screening, Jane, Sarah, Giselle, and I will talk about the making of the film. Of course, we will provide plenty of delicious wine and some finger foods since this is a cocktail party after all. 🙂

We’re very proud of the film, not just because it captures our experience but because we think our love may resonate with many across our community, including our families and friends. We look forward to sharing our story with you, and hope you’ll help Jane and Sarah put the finishing touches on a wonderful documentary.

“The Makeover” is a distinctly traditional love story set in a decidedly non-traditional milieu of BDSM and shifting gender. Tom is an aging conservative policy wonk, in private known as Giselle. He meets Elizabeth Taylor, once a nuclear power instructor with the US Navy but now a photographer and make-up artist who sees hundreds of trans clients per year. Together this unlikely couple transform one another into what they most want to be.

The next tgirlnation party is tomorrow night at 9:30 p.m. at Tara Temple in Arlington. Trans-women, allies, friends, and admirers will hang out in a lounge and club-like atmosphere hosted by Miss Monica. Here are the details for the next event from Monica’s website:

Photos from Spanish Wine and Tapas Party

On Saturday, I hosted my fourth monthly social party for twelve trans-women and allies. One of our guests, Celia, mentioned at an earlier party that she loved making tapas and thus I hosted a Spain-themed party. We started with Cava then moved on to Verdejo and Albariño, two white wines. Then we compared five Tempranillo-based wines and ended with a 100% Monastrell (Mouvedre) wine. Unlike most parties, I actually had a chance to take a few photos during the party. Enjoy!

In the first four photos, Diana shows off her latest look, which she applied herself after a series of makeup lessons from me. In photo five, Celia carries on an animated conversation with Dawn (not shown). In photo six, Erica (left) and Bobbi got to know each other over wine.

Chris loves wine, food, cooking, and hospitality so much so that she cooked and presented Anglo-Indian food for my February Trans-Women and Allies party.
