Allison’s Transgender Makeover Adventure
At Makeovers with Elizabeth Taylor, I specialize in creating meaningful experiences for transgender women, and Allison’s recent photoshoot is a perfect example. Together, we planned a full-day adventure, starting with her transgender makeover at my studio in Takoma Park, Maryland, and culminating in a stunning, two-outfit photoshoot at the historic, graffiti-covered ruins of a mill in Seneca Creek State Park.

Dramatic Makeup: The Studio Transformation
Allison wanted dramatic makeup for her photoshoot, as she often wears daytime makeup and wanted something bold that would stand out in photos while still looking feminine and attractive. At my studio, I applied MAC cranberry and carbon eyeshadows, lots of black eyeliner, and false lashes to create a striking smoky eye. We paired this with a deep red lipstick from MAC for a bold look. Allison used her natural, wavy, shoulder-length hair, which is perfect for catching the rays of the sun.

Allison’s Love for Graffiti and Nature
Allison loves the gritty, artistic vibe of graffiti juxtaposed with the serenity of nature. For her photoshoot, we chose an abandoned mill hidden in the woods of Montgomery County, Maryland. Spray-painted words and images covered the masonry while the surrounding autumn woods and the C&O Canal provided a picturesque backdrop.
Allison gravitated toward uplifting messages on the graffiti walls, including:
- YOU MATTER
- YOU’RE LOVED
- NO EVIL
- BE A GOOD HUMAN
Allison made sure to pose for photos with her favorite tags.

Outfit 1: The Pink Gown
For her first look, Allison dazzled in a long, pink gown, contrasting elegance with the rustic environment. Her dress flowed beautifully as she posed against the vibrant graffiti and the golden autumn leaves. After modeling in her gown, Allison used my minivan as her mobile changing room to prepare for her second outfit.

Outfit 2: Ballerina Dreams
Allison’s second outfit was a showstopper: a black and white ballerina platter tutu with gold accents, paired with black fishnet tights and white canvas sneakers.
As the afternoon light transitioned from bright with harsh shadows to soft and golden, Allison stepped into the warm hues of the hour of magic. The golden rays illuminated her, capturing her radiance, joy, and authentic smile. She feels the most feminine and beautiful when dressed as a ballerina, and I could see that joy on her face.

A Transgender Makeover and Photoshoot Experience
Creating this experience for Allison required planning and coordination. Our full-day, eight-hour immersion experience allowed us to do the following:
- Complete a transgender makeover at my studio, including dramatic makeup
- Travel to and from Seneca Creek State Park near Poolesville, Maryland with everything we needed
- Conduct a two-outfit photoshoot, utilizing the changing light to our advantage
- Make the most of the golden hour of magic, when the sunlight is at its most flattering
To maximize our time for photos, we packed snacks and ate on the go.

Allison’s Words of Gratitude
“You have been such a blessing to me — you helped me find the courage to be the person I hid inside my whole life.”
“Always grateful and thankful for all the help and support from Elizabeth Taylor for almost 10 years now with my transition. I am a lucky trans girl. The life and times of a Down Jersey trans girl…”
Her words capture the heart of why I do what I do. Supporting transgender women in their journey of self-expression, transformation, and transition is my passion, and I’m honored to be part of Allison’s story.
